Advances in Equatorial Guinea membership of WTO

The Ambassador in Switzerland, Lazaro Ekua Avomo, was received in audience on 31st August by Maika Oshikawa, the official in charge of the Membership Division of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

The aim of the meeting was to evaluate advances in the process of membership of Equatorial Guinea to the WTO. Since 2002, our country has been an observer member, and in 2007 full membership of the organisation was requested.

Currently, there are twenty-two countries without full rights. In order to formalise membership, it is necessary to present a memorandum project on the foreign trade regime, with the technical assistance of the WTO Secretary for review, in order to move the process forward, according to Maika Oshikawa.
