On 28th August, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malabo bid farewell with a dinner for the 55 Equatoguinean students enrolled in various universities in the Asian country. The Head of Business at the embassy, Jing Feng, representing the ambassador Chen Gouyou, reminded the scholars that training is the key to success in the future.
At the event, the students received the plane tickets which will take them to their respective destinations.
Jing Feng was the first to give a speech, in representation of the ambassador. In addition to congratulating the young people, he also thanked the Grant Programme National Coordination, and recognised the support provided by the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea, in addition to declaring that, despite the geographical distance between China and Equatorial Guinea, there was a deep, traditional friendship between the two countries that are pursuing the same development dream.
In July, the Vice-President of the Republic, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, made a successful visit to China. The leaders of the two nations have reached wide-ranging consensus on the intensification of multi-sector cooperation, in order to boost the Association of Integrated Cooperation between the two countries”, he added.
Cooperation in the culture, education and health sectors, among others, are achieving positive results, according to the Head of Business, who also recalled that education is a long-term investment, and forms part of the development of a country.
The thousand talents training programme, sponsored by the Chinese Government, is providing positive results in various areas. An example in the construction in Djibloho of the Occupational Training Centre, donated by the Executive of the Asian giant.
For his part, Pergentino Owono Nchama, in the name of the Representative of the National Coordinator of the Grant Programme in Equatorial Guinea, the General Secretary of the PDGE, Jeronimo Osa Osa Ecoro, praised the excellent relations of friendship and coordination with the Chinese Government, and the good management by the ambassador.
He advised the students to defend the honour of our country before the international student community, and reminded them that to study is an opportunity the fruits of which are obtained through willingness and effort.
