12th June saw the start of the annual work of the African Development Bank with a solemn opening ceremony overseen by the Head of State, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, which brought together various figures and governors from countries, under the banner, “Regional integration for economic prosperity”.
The Minister for Finance, the Economy and Planning, and President of the AfDB Board of Governors, Cesar Augusto Mba Abogo, was the first to give a speech, in which he welcomed everyone, and recalled the importance of this AfDB Annual Assembly.
Furthermore, he gave a summary of what Equatorial Guinea was like in the past and how it is now. He also praised the success of the III National Economic Conference.
Following these words of welcome, a video was shown on the development of the AfDB. This was followed by another video on Equatorial Guinea, covering our young country and the current transformations.
There was then an opening speech by the President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, and the Top Level Presidential Dialogue working sessions began.
Following a short break for lunch, they continues with the launch of the Digital Financial Mechanism for Africa, which aims to accelerate integration and development through digital financial inclusion.
On this day the first Board of Governors meeting took place, at which they approved the provisional agenda, and looked at the report from the joint steering committee, the report from the permanent committee and the report from the steering committee on the election of the president.
The afternoon concluded with the launch of the Strategy Document for Regional Integration for Central Africa.
