The acting president of FEGUIFUT, Andres Jorge Mbomio, accompanied by the Deputy General Secretary, Ivan Lorenzo Williams, attended the II FIFA Executive Summit in Peru, where they looked at the proposals regarding improvements to the various competitions and levels, such as an increase in the number of countries taking part in the World Cup; the possibility of playing a World Cup simultaneously in four different places, or the creation of a world women’s league with 16 teams.
They also discussed the proposal to strengthen the 211 associated national federations, through strengthening national competitions; ensuring the administrative management of each institution; providing sporting projects, and boosting women’s football and grassroots football.
This requires an increase in the grant that the highest world footballing body awards to its associate members, while at the same time this growth in the amount awarded requires a change to the monitoring procedures on the management of the grant, with a change from 60 federations being audited annually, in a random manner, to obligatory annual audits.
In addition, they proposed new rules on the transfer of players for this new period which FIFA has proposed as a ceiling, in order to achieve the aims described in the previous paragraph.
