On Sunday 5th August, the presidential couple attended a solemn mass at the Holy Church Basilica in Mongomo, accompanied by provincial, district and municipal authorities from the city. Following the Eucharistic celebration, they also visited some social projects which are being developed in the area.
It means great joy for all Christians to celebrate the Eucharist in holy sacrament to strengthen our relations” said the Bishop of the Diocese of Mongomo, Monsignor Juan Domingo Beka, who continued with the celebration offering prayers to heaven for the eternal rest of Jean Luis, the cardinal who represented the Holy Father in the ceremony laying the first stone of the Immaculate Conception Basilica Cathedral in Mongomo.
With the mass over, the President of the Republic, H. E:.Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, began various inspection visits of social projects in the provisional capital.
These included the General Major Obiang Square, a complex including the Mongomo Town Hall, a market, children’s playground, football pitch and other buildings, occupying a total of 21,143 square metres. Te work began in January this year, and it is expected to be completed by April 2019.
The next stop was the Hotel Basilica, with a total of 75 superior rooms and suites, which is part of the national tourist inheritance, and will house pilgrims from the Basilica Cathedral, in addition to other visitors.
Finally, the Head of State visited the National Museum Library, a building complex covering 57,182 square metres, which has a presidential memorial, conference hall and reception hall, among others.
H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo gave instructions to the construction company on the work in progress financed by the Government, in order to successfully conclude the building, for example by using quality materials and meeting deadlines and contract clauses.
The President of the Republic thus concluded his working schedule for Sunday 5th August.
