Ambassador in Brussels vindicates progress in Equatorial Guinea

The Equatorial Guinea Ambassador in the Belgian capital, Carmelo Nvono-Nca, went to the headquarters of the European Parliament in Brussels in order to report in person on the attack by international mercenaries which took place in our country.

Specifically, the ambassador met the Portuguese socialist European deputy Ana Gomes, whom he assured that he did not understand why, despite the good relations maintained by the Governments of Equatorial Guinea and Portugal, that “the Portuguese Parliament has made declarations against our country with respect to human rights”. Gomes, for her part, replied that regrettably “the impression head regarding Equatorial Guinea in the Portuguese Parliament is not very good”.

We cannot and should not live through our impressions, but through reality, and reality does not coincide with these impressions”, stated the ambassador, in reply. In order to strengthen this argument, Nvono-Nca officially invited both the European Deputy Gomes and other groups of European Deputies to visit Equatorial Guinea in 2018, in order to see in person the economic development and progress in the democratic process.

Furthermore, the European deputies will be able to make contact with the political parties and national authorities they wish to. We are hiding nothing; the opposite is the case”, concluded the ambassador.
