On 4th January, the Republic of Equatorial Guinea Ambassador to Ethiopia, Simeon Oyono Esono, received in audience the Ambassador from Kazakhstan, Yerlik Ali
Equatorial Guinea has, from this January, its position as non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. The Ambassador from Kazakhstan to Ethiopia, as representative of the country holding the rotating Presidency of the United Nations Security Council, considered it opportune to hold a meeting with the Republic of Equatorial Guinea Ambassador Accredited in Ethiopia, Simeon Oyono Esono Angue.
At the meeting the two diplomats spoke about the strengthening of relations in bilateral cooperation.
Yerlik Ali spoke to his counterpart of the need to work together in order to meet the aims of the UN Security Council, in particular to promote world peace and security, among other matters.
He also presented to Oyono Esono the programme of activities which will take place within the United Nations Security Council for the month of January, of which Kazakhstan will hold the presidency.
For his part, Simeon Oyono Esono expressed solidarity and the willingness of the Government of Equatorial Guinea to work together, both in order to achieve the aims of the United Nations Security Council, and for achieving the aims of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union.
The Equatorial Guinea Ambassador to Ethiopia also told his counterpart that, during the mandate of Kazakhstan in the month of January, the possibility of finding solutions to conflicts that are currently affecting countries on the African continent should be taken into account.
This is the first meeting between the two diplomats since their countries have been members of the United Nations Security Council.
