The Equatorial Guinea Ambassador to the Republic of Congo, Samuel Ateba Owono Iyanga, has attended the ceremony to present best wishes to the President of the Republic of Congo, H. E. Denis Sassou Nguesso.
The event took place at the People’s Palace in Brazzaville, and was also attended by members of the Government, led by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Jean Claude Gakosso.
In their speeches, Marie-Charlotte Fayanga, Extraordinary Plenipotentiary Ambassador from Central African Republic, in her capacity as dean of the diplomatic corps, presented the President of the republic with wishes for health, happiness and well-being during these treasured moments of the year marked by the Christmas and New Year 2019 festivities.
For her part, the diplomat highlighted the efforts of the Congolese Government in facing the challenges present in the world today. She praised and recognised the effective establishment of all the institutions outlined in the 2015 constitution.
In his speech, President Sassou Nguesso described as positive the meeting with the accredited diplomatic corps in his country, and reported to those present that his Government was in favour of dialogue in order to resolve conflict in the world.
The President of Congo indicated that, in order to consolidate peace in his territory, the Kinkala agreement signed in December 2017 has allowed harmony, in addition to recognising that in order to resolve the problems in the world, the diplomatic corps has an important role, indicating that diplomats must be efficient in passing on information to their respective countries of origin.
H. E. Denis Sassou Nguesso concluded his speech by wishing all the diplomats present love, peace and prosperity for the new year 2019.
