Anatolio Ndong Mba condemns coup attempt in Equatorial Guinea

The Equatorial Guinea Ambassador Permanent Representative before the United Nations, Anatolio Ndong Mba, has declared his condemnation of the recent coup attempt that took place in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea. Below is the full text of his message.

This permanent mission before the United nations Organisation (UN) has become aware of the attempted State coup in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea by a group of criminals infiltrating Ebebiyin, Mongomo, Bata and Malabo, whose clear aim was to topple the legitimate Government successfully led by the President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, during the celebration of the Christmas and New Year festivities, supported by the eternal internal and external enemies who are not happy with the development and peaceful reality that is being experienced by the nation.

Faced with this disgraceful action against national sovereignty, the entire diplomatic staff, together with their families, join together in strongly condemning the action which is not in line with the Equatorial Guinea Constitution, in addition to being an act categorically rejected by the UN, on whose Security Council, Equatorial Guinea has been a member since 1st January 2018, as a consequence of recognition by friendly states of the peaceful route that our country has always desired.

I would like to use this occasion to express our most fervent recognition, gratitude and support for the Equatoguinean State Security Services and the supportive cooperation maintained with other African security services, with special reference to the Security Forces from the sister Republic of Cameroon, for the excellent work in dismantling the State coup attempt, thus preventing national, and as a consequence subregional chaos.
