The Equatorial Guinean Football Federation (FEGUIFUT) has a new president since the afternoon of December 28, Andres Jorge Mbomio, who won by 21-6 against the previous president, Domingo Mituy Edjang.
The FEGUIFUT held on Sunday its Elective General Assembly, mandated by the FIFA, with the aim of ending the tensions and disagreements between the teams within the National Football Association against the board of directors, fights within the board itself and occasionally with the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
In the elections this Sunday, held in the presence of a mission of the FIFA and with an independent electoral commission, were the candidates Domingo Mituy Edjang, outgoing president, who submitted a joint candidacy with Pedro Alogo Ondo Abeku, second vice president, against Andres Jorge Mbomio, vice president of the FEGUIFUT, head of women’s football.
After the vote, Andres Jorge Mbomio Nsem Abua won with 21 votes in favor, against the 6 for Mituy Edjang. The elections took place 19 days before the start of the African Cup of Nations (CAN), to be held in our country from January 17 to February 8.
The new president said that the victory belongs to the people of Equatorial Guinea, since his success or failure will depend on the cooperation of all to improve our football.
On Monday a new era begins for the FEGUIFUT and the new strongman of the institution appeals to everyone’s efforts to improve the image and credibility of the institution.
