Appointment of Nvono-Nca in London as IMO Permanent Representative

Despite an intense 2019, filled with successes and goals achieved, the Equatorial Guinea Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, Carmelo Nvono-Nca, has just added a fresh milestone, by becoming the Permanent Representative to the highest maritime authority in the world, the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).

With this new appointment, the foreign policy of Equatorial Guinea is aimed at improving relations with the United Kingdom; a significant power, both economically, and politically and strategically, particularly following the much talked about ‘Brexit’.

During the presentation ceremony for credentials, which took place with the General Secretary of the important institution, Nvono-Nca underlined the clear interest of H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo in bringing together the interests of Equatorial Guinea with those of its partners.

In this way, he assured “the aim is to gain time and position in the fight against maritime piracy on an international level, always seeking solutions with the various strategic international partners”.
