At around ten in the morning on 15th April, the Equatoguinean delegation, led by the President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, landed at Nelson Mandela International Airport in Praia, the capital of Cape Verde. His counterpart, H. E. Jorge Carlos Fonseca, was there to meed him on the runway.
After the corresponding honours and military inspection, the two leaders greeted members of the respective delegations.
In the hall of honour at the airport, the two exchanged their first impressions regarding this State visit, in which the strengthening of diplomatic relations is the main aim.
Cape Verde and Equatorial Guinea are two nations that belong to the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) and the ACP (Africa, Caribbean, Pacific) Group. The last visit by the leader of the nation was in July 2018, to the city of Santa Maria, when Cape Verde held the 22nd Summit of CPLP Presidents and heads of State.
