The 55 Equatoguinean students who obtained grants provided by the Chinese Government for Equatorial Guinea for the 2017-2022 period have arrived in China. The young people were met at Beijing International Airport by the Second Secretary from the Embassy, Maria Nieves Osa Nzang, and the students’ representative, Javier Ekua Ondo.
After landing at the airport, the students were taken to the Equatorial Guinea Embassy, where some of them spent the night.
Maria Nieves Osa Nzang welcomed them and invited them to take full advantage of this academic opportunity: We want young people to develop their will power through hard work, in order to give their lives more value and create a positive impact on our society, above all, at this time when the country is fighting to reach its objectives”.
For his part, Ekua Ondo encouraged them and provided details about the life of a student, and the benefits of studying abroad: Our Government recognises that continuous efforts by students and young talents are essential to complete the construction of a moderately prosperous society and the great rejuvenation of the nation. It is for that reason that we must take full advantage of this opportunity provided by the People’s Republic of China, through our Government, as a demonstration of the good relations which exist between the two peoples”.
The scholars will receive training in the cities of Beijing, Wuhan, Chanchung, Shanghai and Tianjin, and will attend language classes for one year. They will then be taken to the universities to study their respective degrees.
