Brazil Embassy celebrates 196th Anniversary of Independence

Last weekend the Federal Republic of Brazil Embassy in Malabo celebrated the one hundred and ninety-sixth anniversary of its independence.

The event tool place in the Bioko Room at the Hilton Hotel. The ceremony began with the national anthems of Brazil and Equatorial Guinea. Guests included members of the Government, accredited ambassadors to Equatorial Guinea, and representatives of non-governmental organisations, among others.

The Brazilian Ambassador to Equatorial Guinea, Evaldo Freire, in his speech, highlighted the excellent relations of cooperation uniting Brazil and the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, above all in the education sector, and also the efforts of the two governments to extend collaboration in defence and civil protection.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Simeon Oyono Esono Angue, representing the Government, congratulated the Federal Republic of Brazil on the anniversary of independence, and affirmed that Equatorial Guinea considers the country not as a friend, but as a brother. The relations between Brazil and Equatorial Guinea have consolidated into a strategic alliance, the common interest of which is cooperation in all its aspects”.
