In the second match of Group A, played on January 17 in the field of Nkoantoma, in Bata, the national team of Gabon beat Burkina Faso by two goals to nil, goals scored by Aubameyang and Evouna.
The game started without a clear dominator, but it was the Gabonese team that got ahead on the scoreboard thanks to a great play by the player of the German Dortmun, Aubameyang. The star of the Gabonese Panthers performed a great dribble in the area and put the ball in the goal outside the reach of the goalkeeper Sanou.
From that moment on, the national team of Burkina Faso, led by the attacking trio made up by the brothers Alain and Bertrand Traore and Jonathan Pitroipa, tried to tie; however, they were not successful in front of the goal and the first half ended with Gabon one goal ahead.
The second half began with the same scenario: dominion of Burkina Faso and very dangerous counterattacks by Gabon. In fact, every time Aubameyang touched the ball, there was a great sense of danger.
Minutes passed and Burkina Faso’s attacks were wasted or stopped by a successful Ovono. And when it seemed it could obtain a draw, the Gabonese team, at 70 minutes, scored its second goal. Aubameyang made a spectacular change in plays towards Bulot, who lost his shadow on the sideline and put a great ball in the area, which Evouna finished off with an accurate header.
Burkina Faso kept trying, but its players were completely ineffective in scoring a goal. Now they have to give their best against Equatorial Guinea because another defeat would leave them out of this CAN 2015.
