The national team of Ivory Coast is the first classified in Group D after beating by one goal to nil, in the New Stadium of Malabo, the national team of Cameroon. The other quarterfinals spot will have to wait for a draw, since the teams of Mali and Guinea Conakry have tied at one goal and are matched in points and goals.
In an intense match played at the New Stadium of Malabo, the Ivorian Elephants imposed their better operation, and managed to beat Cameroon by a single goal to nil.
The game started with the domination of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, but the most dangerous times always were those of Ivory Coast, which at 35 minutes scored thanks to a great long-distance shot by Max Gradel.
From that moment on, Ivory Coast merely defended the result, while Cameroon, with an ineffective game, was unable to overcome the defense of their rival, which managed to get to the end of the match with the 1-0 result, and was finally classified as first in the group.
In the other group match, the teams of Mali and Guinea Conakry, who had ended their previous two games tied at one goal, once again finished the match with the same result.
The Guineans got ahead on the scoreboard thanks to a penalty scored by the player Constant. In the next play, Mali also got a penalty shot for Sylla, but the Malian captain Keita shot very badly and the ball was stopped by goalkeeper Yattara.
The first half ended goalless and in the second half, Mali went for the tie that arrived immediately, when Maiga finished off with a header a good pass from Diaby.
N’Diaye had the best opportunity of the game, but Guinea Conakry’s keeper saved the occasion and the game ended with this result, which requires a draw in order to know which team will go on to the quarterfinals as the second team of the group.
