CAN 2015: Nzalang Nacional wants third place

The national team faces with optimism the last hours before the important match that it will play against the team of the DR of Congo in the New Stadium of Malabo. The players of Esteban Becker have had a championship of highest honors and they want to finish it in third place.

When the championship began on January 17, not even the most optimistic could think that the national team would reach on the 7th of February the option of achieving the third place of the competition. Congo Brazzaville, Burkina Faso and Gabon were serious rivals and beating them was a dream.

But the dream became reality and it continued in the quarterfinals, where in an agonizing final the Tunisian team was overcome. The feat became reality and the team was received in the annual opening of the Parliament as heroes.

The accomplishment has gone around the world and Equatorial Guinea was considered the surprise of the tournament, to which it arrived with only 15 days of training. The close group that was formed among the players and the coaches, led by Esteban Becker –who has been praised for the work carried out- had much to do with this triumph.

The very coach of the team from Ghana, Avram Grant, who has trained at, among others, the Chelsea and the West Ham, stated in a press conference that no one in history had done what the coach of Equatorial Guinea accomplished with only a few days of work.

And history wants to complete the boys of the Nzalang with a victory against the DR of Congo, which would be a brilliant finale for the new heroes of Equatorial Guinea.
