CAN 2015: Second day of Group D

The second day of Group D, which was played in the New Stadium of Malabo on January 24, ended with the two teams tied at one goal. In this way, the teams reach the final encounter with the same number of points and goals for and against, which forecasts a heart-stopping final day.

In the first match played between Mali and Ivory Coast, the Mali team opened the scoreboard at minute six of the first half, thanks to a goal by Sako. From that time the Ivorians dominated, controlling the game with their player Yaya and created danger with Dumbia, but they were unable to score in the goal of The Eagles of Mali.

The second part continued in the same tone and when it seemed that all was decided, in minute 86, an error of the Mali defense was used by the player Gradel who managed in this way a very important point for The Elephants of Ivory Coast.

In the other match of the group, the teams of Cameroon and Guinea Conakry also tied at one goal. The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon began the match with much intensity and at twelve minutes had already advanced the scoreboard thanks to a goal made from the corner directly by Moukandjo, which passed the Guinean goalkeeper, Yattara.

Cameroon had good opportunities that it was not capable of culminating, and the team from Guinea Conakry achieved the tying goal in the minute 41 of the match. The best Guinean player, Gladbach Traore caught a ball at the edge of the area and made a great shop that entered the goal of Ondoa.

Until the end of the match, there were opportunities for the two teams, which both were incapable of finishing. In the injury time, a clear penalty to the Guinean player Conte could change the result, but the referee did not signal it, for which everything is now pending what takes place in the last and exciting day.
