The game started with a clear chance for Senegal in taking advantage of a stolen ball, but it was the Ghanian team which a few minutes later, in the 12th minute, got ahead on the scoreboard by making the most of a penalty committed by the Senegalese goalkeeper. The shot was taken by Ayew, who deceived the keeper and shot the ball through the center of the goal.

From that moment on, the team of Senegal went on the attack and Sow missed when the goal was empty; and minutes later another shot was stopped with a great save from the Ghana goalkeeper. The Senegalese offensive continued when a spectacular shot by Mame was saved by the keeper.

The first half ended with an opportunity for each team, which were not turned into goals, and the teams went to the locker room with one goal to nil in favor of Ghana.

The second half began with Senegal dominating the game and the result of that domination came with the first goal by the Senegalese. Diouf finished off a good shot to the post, he received the rebound and with his second shot beat Razak.

The match continued with a constant attack by Senegal in search of victory, while Ghana was limited to defending and trying to counterattack. With ten minutes left, a new steal of the ball nearly resulted in the second Senegalese goal, but the striker missed the shot when he was alone before the goalkeeper.

And when the game looked set to end in a draw, and in injury time, a long shot by the keeper fell on the Senegalese players, who with a great play got the ball to Atsu and with a crossed shot beat the Ghanian goalkeeper.
