H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo went to the Nzalang Nacional’s hotel before traveling to Ethiopia in order to congratulate the players for the great victory obtained against the national team of Gabon, which has led to their qualification for the quarterfinals of the CAN 2015.
The President of the Republic, before his departure, wished to go by the River Ekuku Hotel, in Bata, where the Nzalang team is being lodged, to congratulate the players and the coaching staff for the victory obtained against the national team of Gabon.
-“I had a moral obligation to come to congratulate you on the important victory achieved. You have been a great joy to the People, who are celebrating. Against Gabon, you demonstrated great professionalism and intelligence and the result was extraordinary,” said the Head of State.
H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo continued his congratulatory speech saying “I cannot ask for more. I am satisfied, but where there’s a will, there’s a way, and if you will it, you will find a way to obtain more victories. You have won a battle but the war of the tournament continues.”
The President of the Republic also referred to the congratulations he has received from various Heads of State, for the organization of the CAN and the results of the National Nzalang: “The CAN is watched worldwide and I am receiving a lot of congratulations for the organization carried out by the Government and the team’s results.”
Finally, he said goodbye indicating that “we are a small country but we are demonstrating our greatness. With your victory you have lifted the morale of the people. Congratulations and thank you very much.”
After his words, H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo greeted each of the players and the coaching staff. He described captain Javier Balboa as a hero and was especially affectionate with Ibán Edu, whom he embraced warmly.
Then spoke the Minister of Youth and Sports, Francisco Pascual Obama, to likewise congratulate the players and tell them to continue the great work they are doing. After the words of the Minister, the Secretary of State for the Treasury, Milagrosa Obono Angue, accompanied by the President of the Equatorial Guinean Football Federation (FEGUIFUT), Andres Jorge Mbomio, delivered to the players the agreed bonus for the victory against the national team of Gabon.
The ceremony was also attended by the Presidential Adviser, Supervisor of the Nzalang Nacional, Antolin Bopa Bitorosa.
