Saturday 25th May saw the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Equatoguinean Child Support Committee (CANIGE), an NGO founded by the First Lady of the nation and Honorary President of the committee, Constancia Mangue de Obiang, on 25th May 1984.
For that reason, a thanksgiving and petition for gifts mass was held at 9.30 in the morning on Saturday at Malabo Cathedral.
The Eucharistic celebration was attended by students and teachers from the CANIGE School Centre in Malabo, together with the vice-presidents, Clemente Engonga Nguema Onguene and Eulalia Envo Bela, among other members of the institution.
CANIGE, which was founded as a charity, carries out multiple activities in favour of Equatoguinean children in various areas: medical and pharmaceutical assistance, both in hospitals in the country and abroad, even covering the medical costs and stays for families, donations of medicines, clothes, school materials and food to health and educational centres, and to less able families, and aid to hospitalised children.
The aim of CANIGE is to promote all activities that contribute to the development and improvement of educational, moral, social and general living conditions of Equatoguinean children, providing aid to all needy children in Equatorial Guinea, with the sick and disabled as a priority.
