The Secretary General of the Economic Community of the Central African States (CEEAC), Ahmad Allam-mi, and the Head of International Relations of the Community of Sant’Egidio, Mauro Garofalo, held a meeting in order to proceed to the signing of a memory of understanding.
The agreement includes different areas intended for economic and social development, prevention and peaceful management of conflicts, in addition to the promotion and defence of human rights and International Humanitarian Law, humanitarian assistance and the fight against HIV-AIDS.
The CEEAC website has recalled that such memorandum forms part of the United Nations consultation report that both countries share, and the added value of the cooperation between a neutral and independent international institution with other regional and international organisations.
After signing the agreement, the representatives of both organisations were in agreement that the collaboration between them shall contribute to the improvement of both partners in regards to carrying out their respective areas of intervention, particularly in areas of security and peace, and a dialogue of cultures and religions for preserving and strengthening peace in Africa.
The two representatives also committed to respect the autonomy of each community, and to collaborate in the realisation of their objectives within the area of the CEEAC.
