On Wednesday 23rd May, the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Malabo celebrated Africa Day, at an event in which the Ambassador RaA�l Isasi Herrera underlined the importance of cooperation for the strengthening of unity, solidarity and peace on the road to development for countries in the south.
The event took place at the headquarters of the Embassy in the Paraiso Neighbourhood, where the Director General for America and Europe from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Fabiola Angono, also gave a speech. In her speech, she underlined the importance of the celebration of the 55th anniversary, both for African and for Equatorial Guinea, and recalled that through the creation of the AU, a new period in the history of Africa began.
Isasi Herrera, for his part, declared that the Organisation for African Unity was the result of effort, struggle and a project to implement Pan-African thought. He also recalled that “Equatorial Guinea, the country that welcomes us as Cuban diplomats, collaborators and residents, is committed to peace and solidarity”, and before concluding, recognised the support that Cuba has received from African countries.
