China commits to maintaining the Bicomo Power Station on the Continental Region.

The President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, has returned from his trip to Beijing, and in order to provide a warm welcome he was met at Malabo airport by various authorities, led by the Vice-President of the Republic, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue; the Prime Minister, Francisco Pascual Obama Asue, and other members of the Government, together with various advisers from the Head of State’s Office.

The People’s Republic of China has promised to help our continent, which was the main aim of the recent III China-Africa Economic Forum, according to the Head of State and Government, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, minutes after his arrival in Malabo.

At another point during his statement to the press, the Head of State described at successful the Conference of Heads of State in Beijing, and clarified that during the summit there has been an Entrepreneurs’ Forum, which brought together African and Chinese leaders to recommend Chinese and African companies mutual collaboration, in order to help the planned projects to be implemented.

At the Summit of Heads of State the Beijing Declaration was also drawn up, through which China promises to help the African continent through the provision of 60,000 million dollars interest-free; a sum which will be used for projects such as roads, railways, industrial agriculture development and other requirements needed by Africa for its autonomous development.

The President also reported that he had held a bilateral meeting with the President, H. E. Xi Jinping, to look at matters relating to cooperation; a meeting that concluded with the signing of a memorandum on cooperation to be implemented immediately; together with an exchange of notes in which the People’s Republic of China has promised to maintain the Bicomo Power Station in the Continental Region, as part of the energy production that will guarantee the supply of electricity to the city of Bata, the capital of the Continental Region.
