Closing of the 6th Conference of Diplomatic Missions

On Monday, March 30, the work of the Diplomatic Missions Conference ended. In closing, the head of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Agapito Mba Mokuy, said that the guidance of the Head of State at the opening of the forum should serve as a basic instrument for diplomacy.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Agapito Mba Mokuy, in his closing speech at the Sixth Conference of Diplomatic Missions, insisted to the diplomats on the message that the Head of State, Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, delivered at the opening ceremony in which he referred to the need to give a new direction and impetus to the Equatorial Guinean diplomacy, not only in Africa but also in the international community.

Mba Mokuy, in addition to expressing his satisfaction with the work done during the conference, said that it is time to move from a passive to a more active diplomacy, from a reaction strategy to one of action, always trying to take the lead in the bilateral relations.

-“This conference we are concluding has given us an opportunity to think about a coherent action plan outlined by the Government in view of Horizon 2020; the possibility of raising the issues that affect our work, to find joint solutions to achieve the goals,” he stated.

The Minister also stressed that the diplomats should leave their personal differences aside and defend the interests of Equatorial Guinea. Finally, he concluded his speech by thanking the ambassadors for their attendance and their responsibility for the development of the conference.
