RaAl Rodriguez was the artist who began the programme of activities during the Week on Hispano-Guinea Meetings, which presents the fruits of research work of over twenty years regarding flamenco and its relationship withpopular music from the Afro-Andalusian Caribbean.
On the night of 22nd October, RaAl Rodriguez began the week of meetings with the conference “Anthropomusic and Afroflamenco there and back”.
The musician presented various sound documents from the archive, and live interpretations of some of his compositions, in addition to presenting a new instrument. The presentation was a journey from a study of our cultural history to artistic experimentation, in order to delve deeper into those processes of there and back that make up our shared culture and open new routes of possible dialogue between creation and tradition.
The conference ended with some questions from those present regarding the work of the artist.
