Bonifacio Manga Obiang, the only candidate for mayor of Bata, was confirmed in the position of mayor. Decrees 161 and 162, dated December 16, 2014, of the Presidency of the Republic, dissolved the municipal corporation and appointed the members of the managing commission of the City of Bata.
Voting to elect the new mayor of Bata took place on January 8, at the headquarters of the central town hall, chaired by the Governor of the Litoral Province, Amado Nguema Owono. The thirteen members of the managing committee chose the only candidate, Bonifacio Manga Obiang.
After the election, they proceeded to the swearing in of office and the investiture, as well as to the delivery and taking of government offices. Then the six deputy mayors and councilors were sworn in before the new mayor.
During the ceremony, they listened to the words of thanks from the outgoing municipal team and the new mayor, who said he will work according to the ideals of the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE), and turn Bata into a cleaner city.
The ceremony was attended by delegates from Bata, Cogo, Mbini, Rio Campo and Machinda as observers.
