Message of congratulations from H. E. Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, Vice-President of the Republic, Charged with Defence and State Security.
To the Armed Forces of Equatorial Guinea
The heroic resounding and immediate action was taken at 14:00 on Sunday, at some miles from our territorial waters, by Our Navy and Air Forces, in response to a call for help from the shipping agent vessel “TLC”, which was returning from its mission to locate a drilling platform in the port of Luba and was attacked by a speedboat with 10 pirates on board. The operation was thwarted thanks to the rapid intervention by our previously mentioned Armed Forces, who managed to rescue the entire crew of the “TLC” and detain the 10 pirates in question, who are apparently of Nigerian nationality. This has once again demonstrated the bravery and huge capacity of our troops in carrying out their sacred Mission.
As a result of this deed, I extend my most effusive congratulations to our Armed Forces for their bravery.
