ON 16th July the Catholic Church celebrated the veneration of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and the First Lady, Constancia Mangue de Obiang, attended the Eucharistic celebration at Malabo Cathedral.
Hundreds of the faithful attended the Metropolitan Cathedral of Malabo to join in the celebration of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Virgin of the Rosary and Patron of the Sea. The mass said by father Benjamin Barila was attended by the First Lady, Constancia Mangue de Obiang.
The celebration of the Patron of Sailors this year coincides with the fifteenth week of Ordinary Time, and the readings were inspired by the life of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
After the mass, the First Lady shared a lunch with the priests from the cathedral and various members of the Carmelite order. After a visit to the bookshop and the acquisition of various sacred texts, the visit by Mangue de Obiang to the cathedral came to an end.
