The accredited Equatorial Guinea Consul General in Benin was received in audience by the new African Director for the Middle East, Ahoussou Gbeney Es Tric. The meeting took place on 20th March, at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Cotonou.
Equatoguineans who frequently travel to Benin in order to purchase and ship vehicles to the country have been experiencing a worrying situation since last October, despite having met all the formal requirements for the acquisition of these motor vehicles.
The vehicles remained parked up in various areas in Cotonou, without being shipped and with no information regarding the reason why this situation had come about, which not only affected the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, but also many other nations.
In order to defend the interests of our country, the leader of the Equatorial Guinea diplomatic mission in Cotonou, Leandro Ebang Miko Angue, after requesting various audiences with the General Directorate of Customs in the capital which were not granted, found it necessary to go to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in order to get information regarding the situation, where he was received by the African Director for the Middle East, Ahoussou Gbeney Es Tric.
Ebang Miko received no information regarding the situation; however, the Director General assured him that he will do everything possible to provide first-hand information regarding the specific situation concerning the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.
The meeting also covered matters of bilateral interest and ways to strengthen the relations of friendship and cooperation between Malabo and Cotonou.
