Three days after the Republic of Equatorial Guinea officially took its seat on the highest decision-making body of the UN, the diplomatic officials from our country before the United Nations set out on 3rd January the structural bases for operations, with a view to the work they will be called on to carry out over the two years in New York.
Knowing how to interpret the position of our Government during this examination of trust, commitment to working as a team based on an unmatched harmony in the respective working groups, and a position of solidarity as the Equatoguineans we all are, with the sole aim of defending the cause of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, are the basic factors regarding our harmony for the honour of the country”, thus began the Ambassador Permanent Representative before the UN, Anatolio Ndong Mba, at the start of the meeting held in the presence of diplomatic personnel concerned with the work of the Security Council, and officials from the Permanent Mission before the international organisation.
The aim of the meeting was to agree on the various aspects regarding the development of functions during Equatorial Guinea’s membership of the Security Council. To that end, various basic aspects including advice regarding the behaviour of diplomatic personnel in the host country, prompt information regarding the daily proceedings within the framework of the working activities, the definitive establishment of working groups, punctuality for meetings in parallel with other countries, the functional organigram to follow, with respect to the administrative hierarchy, among others, were included in the points clarified.
The first and third deputy permanent representatives, Job Obiang Esono Mbengono and Amparo Mele Kolifa, together with the Minister Adviser Mari Carmen Ecoro, for their part agreed to strengthen the thesis of Anatolio Ndong Mba, urging officials to carry out their work in the spirit of union and humility, in order to continue to perform with honesty the task that H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo has entrusted to those chosen.
