On the afternoon of 23rd October, at the headquarters of the Malabo PDGE District Council, the President Founder of the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE), Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, held a meeting with the party candidates on the island of Bioko and Annobon for positions as senators, deputies, and town councillors.
Following the meeting, the General Secretary, in conversations with the press, set out the aims of the meeting with respect to preparations for the PDGE electoral campaign for the upcoming elections on 12th November.
Osa Osa Ecoro revealed that the PDGE has been preparing for the elections for two months, These meetings are multiplying at the heart of the party, and consist in organising party activities with respect to the elections. We began with internal elections, and all the meetings are aimed at coordinating the best way for the party to take part, and also to guarantee the success of the party as in past elections”.
He also underlined the fact that “Brother militant President Founder Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, in his capacity as President Founder of the Party, is not a candidate in these elections as they are not presidential, but in his position as founder of the party, the activities of the party could not go unnoticed. Through his commitment, and on the eve of the start of the electoral campaign for the elections of 12th November, he is encouraging and putting in place the party structures, particularly the presidents of the district commissions and presidents of the monitoring commissions in the Insular Region, including Annobon, and also all those candidates for positions as senators, deputies and councillors, so that, in this decisive and important process for the party’s electoral campaign, they can be assured of the continuing success of the party”.
Furthermore, he recalled that, “we know that victory is ours, this is an encouragement of the spirit and, above all, knowledge of how to interpret and convince the undecided electorate or even the party opponent through deeds, so that we can continue to build Equatorial Guinea together from the PDGE. We believe that the militancy must continue to place its trust in the party as on previous occasions, and above all in its leader, because we know where we have come from, where we are, and, if we want a future which is much better than the present, we must continue to trust in the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea, In these elections, the PDGE, at the behest of other opposition parties, is in coalition with fourteen political parties, which should be taken to mean that the other parties are of the opinion that the PDGE is the leading party and its leadership can be seen by all, because the proof has become the reality of the construction of the country”.
