On 4th August, the Apostolic Nuncio of his holiness the Pope for Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, Piero Pioppo, was decorated with the Medal of the Great Cross of the Order of Independence of Equatorial Guinea. The act took place at the administrative complex in Djibloho.
The act, which was overseen by the President, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, began with a reading of decree number 54/2017, of 4th August, awarding the Medal of the Great Cross of the Order of Independence of Equatorial Guinea, following the conclusion of his apostolic mission in the country.
The Head of State, in his words, praised the work carried out by the Nuncio Piero Pioppo, during his apostolic mission of over seven years, for the benefit of the Christian people of Equatorial Guinea.
Fir his part, the nuncio for Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea thanked H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo for the gesture, while at the same time praising the excellent relations between our country and the Holy See.
Piero Pioppo is Italian, a diplomat, Catholic bishop and theologian. He was ordained in 1985, and in 2010 was appointed Papal Apostolic Nuncio for Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, a mission which he has been carrying out to this date.
