The Director General for Sports received a delegation from the Equatoguinean Tennis Federation (FET), accompanied by the Representative for Development from the International Tennis Federation (ITF) for East Africa, in addition to the Director of the ITF High Performance Centre in Morocco.
A FET commission made up of Manuel Adolfo Etoho (president) and Francisco Dosantos Sibita (general coordinator), accompanied by Amine Ben Makhlouf, head of the ITF Development area for East, Central and North Africa, and the director of the ITF High Performance Centre located in Morocco, held a meeting with the Director General for Sports, Josue Esono EdA Corredor, at the Ministry for Youth and Sports, to officially introduce the ITF expert, who came to Malabo on a diagnostic mission regarding the FET, in order to thus move forward with the analysis of the implementation of the federation’s programmes.
The expert, on the one hand, highlighted the renewed working spirit of the current FET executive, whose development programme for youth tennis the IFT is observing, and on the other hand, has deployed the wide remit of the FET to achieve sustainability for this sport, with the support of the IFT, the African Tennis Federation (CAT), the Ministry for Sports, and the Equatorial Guinea Olympic Committee (COGE), whose leaders -in the words of the expert- should give priority to the programmes of this federation, in order to train coaches.
To that end, work is to be done on one of the options to feature an ITF expert, with the support of the ministry, in order to be able to assist with the restructuring of the federation, and preparation of the project to be submitted to the COGE, in addition to assisting with the continuous training and popularisation of tennis in schools throughout the nation.
