On Monday 12th March, the Director General of Gepetrol, Antonio Oburu Ondo, visited the morning television programme A Fondo, to provide information on the new advice established for the awarding of grants by the company.
The director of the national petroleum company announced that forty grants had been signed off for professional training with the Ministry for Education, in the areas of Medium and Higher Level throughout the nation.
The ministry will also attend the implementation of the call for application for these grants, which will be published shortly and will specify where to register and the criteria established, with the results of a selection test being one of the selection methods. The conditions will be based on the academic performance of the students.
Furthermore, Antonio Oburu Ondo indicated that the National University of Equatorial Guinea (UNGE) was involved in drawing up the selection criteria and testing for the future grants at Graduate and Post-Graduate level.
With respect to the those receiving grants, he reported that shortly they would receive a letter requesting those who have not yet done so to provide their data for the issue of their Ecobank Visa cards. Those who do not respond within the period established will not be able to use this tool.
Finally, the Director General added that in accordance with the Monitoring and Control Plan, a commission is to travel to South Africa on 21st, 22nd and 23rd March, to make inspection visits to the centres where the students in receipt of grants are studying.
