On the weekend of 12th and 13th January, Ebebiyin hosted the eighth meeting of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI). The Minister for Mines and Hydrocarbons, Gabriel Mbega Obiang Lima, in his capacity as president of the EITI Commission, accompanied by the Minister for Finance, the Economy and Planning, Lucas Abaga Nachama, oversaw the meeting in the conference hall in the city, at an event that was also attended by representatives from oil companies and civic society.
Following the report from the last meeting, a declaration was presented which covers the implementation process for EITI standards. The Republic of Equatorial Guinea is continuing to work towards concluding the process of joining the initiative.
During the meeting a resolution was passed as the final result of the eighth meeting.
