Based on the presence of H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo President of the Republic at the funeral of former president Jacques Chirac the Equatorial Guinea Embassy in France feels extremely satisfied and honoured by the effective participation of the Head of State in all acts organised for the occasion and specifically the attendance of the Requiem Mass held in Sant Suplice in the company if the First Lady of the Nation and accompanied by the Equatorial Guinea Ambassador to France Miguel Oyono Ndong Mifumu and also for the participation in the lunch organised at the Elysee Palace by the French President H. E. Emmanuel Macron for all the Heads of State and Governments present which the first ladies did not attend.
During this lunch H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo was able to hold a brief conversation with the French President H. E. Emmanuel macron to express his condolences directly and via a firm handshake the French President thanked H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo for having attended the farewell ceremony for one of the great French statesmen of the 20th Century Jacques Chirac.
This informal friendly meeting took place in the presence of the Adviser for African Affairs Franck Paris to whom Macron personally charged with maintaining a direct channel of communication between the two Heads of State.
The visit despite its brevity was a great success for the normalisation of relations between the two countries. The Equatorial Guinea Ambassador to France thanked the French authorities for having reserved a reception for H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo worthy of his rank as Head of State of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.
