End of study of Draft Merchant Navy Law

The examination of the articles in the Draft Merchant Navy Law ended on 2nd march at the level of the Permanent Commission on Infrastructures Transport and new Technologies following two weeks of intense debates on the articles in the draft law which will regulate the various aspects of merchant navy activities in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.

With the approval of Parliament and sanction by the Head of State for this document the Republic of Equatorial Guinea will have a General Merchant Navy Law regulating all areas of the maritime sector and the provision of efficient national and international services together with a system of maritime transport which ensures development and matches the growing needs and demands of the complex activities in the sector.

The study of the articles from the legal text concluded with the contents of the regulations on applicable law and jurisdiction together with the administrative and criminal disciplinary regime with specific aspects being reserved for clarification by the Government Delegation in its next appearance.
