The two important meetings held on Tuesday 25th June with the Equatoguinean delegation, which is in the city of Beijing, were with the member of the Political Bureau and director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission from the CPC Central Committee, Yang Jieche, and with the State Councillor and Minister for Foreign Relations, Wang Yi.

At the two meetings they backed bilateral cooperation and reciprocal benefits for the two peoples, and there was insistence from the Equatoguinean side on the need to count on China’s support in order to boost the second phase of its National Economic Development Programme, consisting in the creation of small and medium-sized industries.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Simeon Oyono Esono, also pointed out the position of Equatorial Guinea regarding international policy, supporting the African Union principle on reforms to the Security Council so that Africa has permanent members with rights to veto, a posture that China has always supported.

Equatorial Guinea also needs the assistance of the Chinese Government in terms of investment, financing and advice, as, thanks to the experience of the Asian giant, on which they had enjoyed during the first phase, it would be possible to implement the second phase of the National Development Programme for Horizonte 2035.

At the end of the meeting they signed a convention on economic and technical cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea and the People’s Republic of China, through which it will be possible to implement specific projects for the benefit of the Equatoguinean population.
