Equatoguinean presidential couple attend X Anniversary of death of President Omar Bongo Ondimba

On Saturday 8th June, the Government and the Gabonese people recalled, in Libreville, the capital, the memory of President Omar Bongo Ondimba, who died on 9th June 2009 in a clinic in the Spanish city of Barcelona. Various leaders from neighbouring friendly countries were present.

The Republic of Equatorial Guinea was represented by a delegation led by the presidential couple, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and Constancia Mangue de Obiang, who were received at Leon Mba International Airport by the Prime Minister of the Gabonese Government, Ncoge Bakale Julien and the accredited ambassador from our country in Libreville, Marcos Ndong Edu Nchama, among other figures.

In the presidential terminal, the Equatoguinean President spoke to the Head of the Gabonese Government about the strengthening of diplomatic relations between the bordering countries and members of CEMAC and CEEAC.

A total of five African Heads of State were present in order to take part in the events marking the tenth anniversary of the death of H. E. Omar Bongo Ondimba, who was president of the African country for 42 years.

In accordance with the official programme drawn up for the occasion, statesmen and representatives from other friendly countries who were paying homage to this figure were given the corresponding military honours by units present by the Palace.

Present at the event were H.E. Faustin Archange Touadera, President of Central African Republic, H. E. Ibrahim Boubacar KeA�ta, from the Republic of Mali, H. E. Faure Zosima Gnassingbe, from Togo, H. E. Denis Sassou Nguesso, from Congo Brazzaville, and the President of the Republic, Head of State and Government, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and wife, Constancia Mangue de Obiang.

Under the coordination of the metropolitan Archbishop of Libreville, Basile Nve Ngone, various religious representatives led prayers to the Almighty that the lamented African statesman be taken into his kingdom, while they prayed to the Lord for the prosperity of the Gabonese people.

Late on Saturday, the Equatoguinean presidential couple, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and Constancia Mangue returned to Malabo.
