Players from the National Football Team who play in foreign leagues arrived in Malabo on Tuesday. The 19 footballers have come to join the rest of those called up for the game on Saturday 17th November, which will see Nzalang National play Senegal. The big news is the inclusion of the West Ham United player, Pedro Obiang.
The men’s National Football Team is now in Malabo. On the afternoon of Tuesday, the remaining Nzalang players who play in foreign leagues and were called for the return CAN 2019 qualifying match against the Lions of the Teranga from Senegal, arrived on a Ceiba Intercontinental Boeing 777.
The squad against Senegal has three notable absences for the National team. Iban Salvador and Kike Boula, due to an accumulation of yellow cards, and the captain Emilio Nsue Lopez, through injury. Bit the best alternative for the trainer Angel Lopez is Pedro Mba Obiang, the West Ham United midfielder, who will wear the Nzalang national shirt for the first time.
Equatorial Guinea has no chance of qualifying for CAN -Cameroon 2019; however, all is not lost. If Angel Lopez’s boys win the two remaining matches in the group phase: Senegal, on Saturday, and South Sudan, in the return game, then there would be the possibility of qualifying as best third place finish, with 9 points.
The Nzalang players are upbeat and keen to get out on the field. In order to encourage this winning spirit, the Malabo population and the executive from the Equatoguinean Football Federation, led by its president Gustavo Ndong, went to receive the National Reds players at the tunnel of the terminal at Malabo International Airport.
