Equatorial Guinea attends symposium on nuclear testing in Vienna

The Republic of Equatorial Guinea is one of the member states of the United Nations that has been declaring complete rejection of the manufacture, obtaining or use of nuclear weapons.

The Austrian capital hosted the Symposium of Diplomatic Science, organised by the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT), created in 1996, and to date ratified by 166 countries from the 183 that signed.

The aim of the symposium was to look at the mechanisms that could lead humanity to a world free from nuclear weapons.

The event was attended by senior diplomatic figures, and others from the areas of defence and security. The Equatorial Guinea delegation was led by Vicente Mba Asumu, adviser in Security Council matters from our Permanent Mission in New York, and including Marcial Edu Mbasogo.
