Equatorial Guinea in vote on draft resolution on Democratic People’s Republic of Korea

The UN Security Council, as the body which oversees peace and stability in the world, held a session, on Wednesday 21st March, on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

Meeting number 8210 of the Security Council allowed member countries to review document S/2018/237, proposed by the United States, for adoption via a vote, with the successful result of 15 votes in favour.

With this unanimous support from the group of countries for the document, including the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, whose diplomatic representation took part in the vote, the Security Council committed to the renewal of the mandate of the Expert Commission on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, as ratified on 22nd March, in New York, before national media, by the Equatorial Guinea Ambassador Permanent Representative before the UN, Anatolio Ndong Mba, who during the adoption of the resolution was accompanied by the First Deputy Representative, Job Obiang Esono Mbengono.
