Equatorial Guinea participates in the preparation of the Summit of Iran and the Executive Board of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum

The 7th Meeting of the Long-Term Strategy (LTS), the First Meeting of the High-Level Group for the holding of the Third Gas Summit of Heads of State to be held in November in Iran, and the 22nd Session of the Executive Board of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, whose headquarters are located in the Doha, were held from May 19 to 21 in Doha, Qatar.

The 7th Meeting of the Long-Term Strategy (LTS), the First Meeting of the High-Level Group for the holding of the Third Gas Summit of Heads of State to be held in November in Iran, and the 22nd Meeting of the Executive Board of the Forum for Gas Exporting Countries, whose headquarters are in the Doha, were held from May 19 to 21 in the city of Doha, State of Qatar

On May 19, the 7th meeting of the Long-Term Strategy was held; this meeting was chaired by the Executive Member of Algeria, accompanied by the Secretary General of the Organization, Hossein Adeli.

During the meeting of the High-Level Member countries, they discussed the latest technical details of the Long-Term Strategy GECF (Gas Exporting Countries Forum).

On May 20, the first meeting of the High Level Group was held for the celebration of the Third Gs Summit of Heads of State in Iran on November 23 of this year. This meeting was chaired by the Executive Member of Iran, in his capacity as host country of the event, and was accompanied by the Executive Member of Russia and the Secretary General of the Organization.

During the meeting, the Ad-hoc High Level Committee examined the administrative and logistical arrangements for the holding of the Third Summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum.

In the afternoon of the same day, the last session of the Forum’s Executive Board took place, to resume sessions on May 21. The meeting was chaired by the Executive Member of Libya, Mohamed Mohamed M. Oun, in his capacity as rotary Chairman in 2015 and accompanied by Gabbidon Meheux, as Alternative President, always assisted by the Secretary General of the Organization, Hossein Adeli.

During this meeting, the member countries of the Forum discussed various relevant development aspects of the Organization.

These meetings were attended by representatives of the Member countries of Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, United Arab Emirates, Venezuela and Equatorial Guinea; with the Netherlands, Norway and Iraq, as observers.

Equatorial Guinea, as a member country was represented by Cesar Augusto Hinestrosa Gomez, Director General of EITI (Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative), in his capacity as Representative of Equatorial Guinea to the Executive Board, together with technical experts from the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Energy.

The Gas Exporting Countries Forum is a union of the world’s leading countries in the production of gas, and was created with the aim of increasing the level of coordination and strengthen collaboration among member countries.

Equatorial Guinea is a member of this organization since 2010, and in 2012 chaired on a rotating basis the Council of Ministers held in Malabo in November 2012. In 2013, a Summit of Heads of State in Moscow, Russia was held, which was attended by H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, President of the Republic, Head of State and Government.
