The traditional wishes of well-being and peace ceremony took place in the ambassadors’ room at the People’s Palace in Malabo, in the presence of the Vice-President of the Republic, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, together with the President of the Senate, Teresa Efua Asangono, and the President of the Constitutional Court, among other figures.
Five speakers put forward congratulatory motions. The president of the Chamber of Commerce, Gregorio Boho Camo; the Archbishop of Malabo, Monsignor Juan Nsue Edjang Maye; the Ambassador from Chad accredited in Equatorial Guinea, Paul Ngariana, dean of all the accredited diplomats close to the Government of the Nation; the President of the Progressive Democratic Alliance (ADP), Francisco Mba Olo Bahamonde, representing the Democratic opposition; the PDGE General Secretary, Jeronimo Osa Osa Ecoro; the Prime Minister, Francisco Pascual Obama Asue; the President of the Supreme Court of Justice, Juan Carlos Ondo Angue, and the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Gaudencio Mohaba Mesu, in the name of the Bicameral Parliament.
Apart from expressing details from each sector, they coincided in congratulating the President of the Republic on his re-election, in addition to wishing him seasonal greetings for Christmas and the start of the New Year 2018.
This traditional act represents the highest expression of national solidarity which defines the Equatoguinean people”, said the Head of State.
He also underlined the fact that the atmosphere of peace and political stability enjoyed by Equatorial Guinea during the year, together with successes in the processes of political, economic, social and diplomatic development, are the result of the coordinated actions of all State institutions, and the behaviour of all citizens as the main players in this evolution.
In addition, the President welcomed the motions directed in favour of his political actions, and affirmed that it is fair to recognise that the congratulations are mutual before the evident truth of a job well done, by all the Tiers of the State, and that it should serve as a model of behaviour.
During 2017, we have achieved great successes on an internal level, with the consolidation of national reconciliation and unity; the adoption of political and administrative structures which guarantee the participation of the people in public administration, together with the adoption of provisions guaranteeing respect for the most basic rights of the people” , pointed out the President.
“At the start of this New Year 2018, our greatest wish is to guarantee the continuity of peace, harmony, State security, and rising economic development.
Our wishes are that those peoples suffering from wars, famine, natural disasters, pandemics and underdevelopment can regain peace, calm and well-being”, concluded the Equatoguinean leader, who then expressed a desire for the new year to bring peace to the whole world.
