Each year, the People’s Republic of China offers scholarships to Equatoguinean students to study in different universities of the country. Last Sunday, March 22, the Chinese Embassy in Malabo held the second exam for opting for them, after the one given by the National Entity for Coordination of Scholarships in Equatorial Guinea.
The objective of the exam is to select the winners of the governmental scholarships that China offers to Equatorial Guinea. The Business Attaché of China in Equatorial Guinea, Cui Weillei, in conversation with the press, recalled that the embassy works with the National Entity for Coordination of Scholarships, since it organized the first exam for the applicants of the scholarships. To determine the granting of the scholarships, the results of the two exams will be added together.
As for the number of scholarships that China offers this year, Weillei said that the exact number is not confirmed, but it depends on the number of Equatoguinean students that are graduating in the Chinese universities this year. “We have the information of around thirty scholarships available,” specified the business attaché, who also spoke to the applicants on the selection criteria based on transparency.
-“Starting this year, the selection process is being reformed, so that in the first call everyone who is interested in studying in China was admitted; we use transparent criteria during our selection, and we invite the press to cover the entire process,” he concluded.
