Various matters were covered at this executive council meeting, which took place in the meeting room at the Ministry for Finance, the Economy and Planning, on Thursday 10th May, and which was attended by members of the government team and departmental heads of areas. The meeting was overseen and moderated by the departmental head, Lucas Ababa Nchama.
The Minister for Finance, assisted by the Deputy Minister, Montserrat Afang Ondo, oversaw the executive council meeting at which they covered the points on the agenda, read by the General Secretary, Clemente Meda Seriche.
Among the matters examined were the settlement of the budget for the 2017 economic period; the explanatory budget for 2018; and the measures adopted between the Government and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The minister pointed out that the budget is the most important element of public spending, and recalled that 2017 was a special year, in which the CEMAC countries had signed various agreements with the IMF.
He also indicated that Equatorial Guinea had reduced the level of its budget deficit much more than the member countries of CEMAC. At the meeting they also covered matters such as the increase in non-petroleum income in 2018.
In order to achieve some of the aims set out for this year, the departmental head called on director generals and associates to take part and get involved in the work.
The meeting was attended by the Vice-Minister Valentin Ella Maye, and secretaries of State from the ministry.
