Andres Jorge Mbomio, President of FEGUIFUT, undertook with great success the mission entrusted to him as a CAF member, on the Organising Commission for the U.17 African Cup of Nations TOTAL Gabon 2017, which took place in the city of Libreville.
The competition began on 14th May, and the final took place in the La Amistad Stadium, in 28th, with the team from Mali being proclaimed champions, after beating Ghana by one goal to nil.
Andres Jorge Mbomio could not be present for the start of the competition, as he had political obligations in Evinayong, where he had the responsibility of organising the installation ceremony for the new Bishop. But once the act was over on Sunday 21st, the President of FEGUIFUT was able to travel to Libreville to join the mission and begin the work.
It should be pointed out that Mbomio, in the last CAF executive meeting, was designated Commissioner for the match for third and fourth place which, in fact, was disputed between teams from Niger and Guinea. The match ended with the result of 3-1 in favour of the Guinea side.
Both the President of the Cape Verde Federation (Commissioner for the final) and Andres Jorge Mbomio (Commissioner for the consolation match) received recognition and Gold Medals, for the excellent organisation evident in the two matches. Without doubt a huge achievement, which is very important for FEGUIFUT.
Finally, and no less importantly, for the pride of the people of Equatorial Guinea, during the CAN U-17 TOTAL Gabon 2017 the Equatoguinean, Amadeo Nguema, Director General of the Cabinet of the Prime Minister, was General Coordinator for the competition. Nguema undertook the work with professionalism, responsibility, and personality, steering the total success of the organisation of the competition, and, in addition, leaving both an impeccable image and raising the good name of Equatorial Guinea.
From the football federation we send him our heartfelt recognition and congratulations, while hoping that in the near future training can begin within the federation of personnel for the organisation of sporting events.
Mbomio is continuing with his intense international agenda, and is now in Kinshasa, where he will attend, together with the rest of the Presidents and General Secretaries from Central Africa Football Federations, a seminar on the new Forward Development Programme from FIFA, on 30th and 31st May.
