On Wednesday 16th January, senior figures, colleagues, friends, family members and acquaintances bid a final farewell to Pastor Mba Nchama, Director General of Presidential Press, prior to his transfer to the city of Bata. The ceremony took place at the Equatoguinean Cultural Centre, and was attended by the President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, and the First Lady, Constancia Mangue.
At 9.30 in the morning, the coffin arrived at the Equatoguinean Cultural Centre, and moment later the President of the republic arrived, to begin the posthumous homage to Pastor Mba Nchama. The funeral began with the presentation of wreaths on the coffin from the various ministerial departments and institutions: the laying of wreaths was concluded by the Vice-President of the Republic, Teodoro Obiang Mangue, and the Head of State, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
Then, they heard a short biography on the deceased and his political and social career, read by his brother Manuel Mba Nchama, Director General for Human Rights; together with some words of guidance and gratitude from the father of the deceased.
After that, they heard various messages of condolence, including ones from the district representative of the Democratic Party in Mongomo, the PDGE General Secretary, Jeronimo Osa Osa Ecoro, the Minister for Information, Press and Radio, Eugenio Nze Obiang, and finally, one from the President of the Republic. They all praised the great work carried out by Mba Nchama.
After the ceremony, the coffin was taken to Malabo Cathedral, for a requiem mass, before being taken to the Continental Region, where he will be entombed.
