The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Simeon Oyono Esono, who arrived on Friday 30th November in the United States, had an interview with the Principal Deputy for African Affairs from the State Department, Geeta Pasi, in order to look at bilateral matters between Malabo and Washington.
Accompanied by the General Secretary, Matias Nguema Mba Medja, and the Ambassador from the Republic of Equatorial Guinea to the United States, Miguel Ntutumu Evuna Andeme, the head of Equatoguinean diplomacy and Geeta Pasi focussed their conversation on the United Nations Security Council, taking into account that Equatorial Guinea will assume the work of this body in February 2019.
The need to strengthen cooperation at the investment level, together with working in close cooperation to fight against people trafficking, among other questions, was the aim of the meeting, in which a good climate of understanding between the two governments predominated.
The meeting between Oyono Esono and Geeta Pasi took place hours before the Foreign Minister travelled to Mexico to take part in the investiture of the new President, H. E. Andres-Manuel Lopez Obrador, in representation of the Head of State, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
